Tanzanian music heavyweight Diamond Platnumz has released a brand new single titled Katam, featuring celebrated Kenyan singer Bien-Aimé Baraza of Sauti Sol.
The vibrant track dropped on June 8, 2025, and is already generating buzz across East Africa for its infectious rhythm and the star power behind it.
Katam blends Bongo Flava with Afrobeat, bringing together Diamond’s signature smooth Swahili delivery and Bien’s rich, soulful vocals.
The song marks the first official collaboration between the two artists since their appearance on Akothee’s 2015 track Sweet Love, and fans have welcomed the reunion with enthusiasm.
In interviews surrounding the release, both artists spoke highly of each other. Diamond hailed Bien’s unique voice and artistry, even naming Inauma—Bien’s breakout solo single—as one of his favorite tracks. Bien returned the praise, describing Diamond as a “necessary artist” in East African music, known not only for his creativity but also his business sense and influence in the industry.
Diamond Platnumz (real name Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack) is one of Africa’s most successful recording artists, known for pioneering and popularizing Bongo Flava across the continent and beyond. With global hits like Jeje, Waah!, and Inama, he has earned multiple awards and collaborated with international acts including Ne-Yo, Alicia Keys, and Rick Ross. Diamond is also the founder of WCB Wasafi, a record label that has shaped the careers of many Tanzanian stars.
Bien-Aimé Baraza, widely known as Bien, is one-fourth of the award-winning Kenyan band Sauti Sol.
Renowned for his smooth vocals and lyrical depth, Bien has also carved out a successful solo career in recent years. His music often blends Afro-fusion, R&B, and pop, with a strong focus on love, identity, and societal issues.
As a songwriter and performer, Bien continues to be a powerful voice in modern African music.
Katam is currently available on major streaming platforms, and the music video is expected to follow soon. With two of East Africa’s most iconic voices on one track, Katam is poised to become one of the region’s biggest hits of the year.
